Mixmag Australia : Honouring Volition

Mixmag
Australia have published an expansive retrospective honouring Volition’s cultural impact on Australian electronic and indie music.

The tribute coincides with the release of Volition Cuts Vol 1, which includes our Lelore World Dub Mix, on the very fine Efficient Space imprint.

I spoke with Mixmag's Martyn Pepperell in June for about an hour, broaching all kinds of subjects ranging from Kiwi new wave and synthpop
to the exciting electronic music emerging from the African diaspora over the last decade. Martyn really knows his stuff!

While I was grateful to reminisce about Andy (Penhallow) it’s also been on my mind that his fellow "musketeers" Chris Read and Leah Haynes have not received nearly enough kudos. Both Chris and Leah were the engine that made Volition possible, each respectively managing the distribution and ensuring artists were visible in the press.

Thankyou Chris. Thankyou Leah. God knows what you put up with. Well of course I have some idea.

Miss Andy each and every day.
